Emulator Clients Cached client
(HODCached.html)
Starts the Cached Client and any supporting client functions such as the Alternate Terminal graphical interface. When you start the Cached Client for the first time on a workstation, a small startup component is downloaded which in turn downloads from the server all the components needed to run the Host On-Demand client and stores them on the workstation's hard disk. (But components that have been disabled or that have been removed from the preload list by the system administrator are not downloaded.) When you start the Cached Client again on the same workstation, only the startup component has to be downloaded again in order to run the Host On-Demand client. The startup component then loads the remaining components directly from the workstation's hard disk. The startup component will also download from the server any components that have been updated by the system administrator (such as components from a service release of Host On-Demand) since the last time the cached client was run. Please note that if you do have a Java 2 plug-in but also previously installed the Java 1 cached client, this will remove only the Java 2 cached client.
