Host On-Demand(HOD) Quick Guide

Use this HOD Quick Guide for a secure connection to the DIT Mainframe.

1. HOD requires Java software at a supported level on your PC.
  
Supported Java 2 plug-ins for HOD are:

Oracle Java 8 Update 411

IBM Java 8.0.8.5
 
 On 64-bit platforms, both 32-bit and 64-bit JRE's are
supported by HOD.

A quick test to determine if you have Java installed on your PC is to
   go to the web address: www.java.com

   Click on the link: Do I have Java?
  
   Next, click the "Verify Java Version" button.
   If the message, "No working Java was detected on your system",
  install java using the instructions in the HOD FAQ#5.
  
2. Check the HOD home page on the web and verify that it is displayed correctly.
     http://3270.its.state.nc.us
   If you cannot connect to the HOD home page, your internet connection may
   be down or there may be other internet connection issues.

3.  Click the following link on the HOD home page: b‚TN3270… TLS Displayb   
    HOD will begin downloading. Depending upon the speed of your network
    connection, it could take from 10 seconds to 3 minutes.
    When HOD has completed the download, the HOD desktop window will appear
    and contain two icons.
    Double-click the 3270 TLS Display ‚ icon to start a secure HOD session.
    When the secure session has started successfully, the Banner Screen ,…
    with the message:
    VIA TCP/IP TO THE NORTH CAROLINA STATE NETWORK appears at the top of the    
    terminal window and the Application:b… prompt appears in the middle of the
    window. 
    A closed "padlock" appears in the lower right-hand corner of the window,
    indicating that a secure HOD session is established.
